Harbour walls and roadsides
Shore node SN-1
Watches from the shore.
Fixed to a harbour wall, a post or a roadside. Solar powered, no mains. Measures every vessel or vehicle that passes.
Hardware
Two units today, each built for one place: the shore and the electric outboard. Every reading from either lands in the same record, sealed on the unit.

On the outboard, at the motor controller
Rides on the outboard.
Reads the motor controller of an electric outboard, fitted by the maker or retrofitted. Powered from the outboard battery via DC-DC. Reports prop rpm, speed, battery, current, temperatures and position with its accuracy.
SN-1 and DU-1 are working names.
The shore node sees Aurora cross the approach at 7.1 knots. Her own drive unit reads 5,640 prop rpm from the motor controller in the same second. The record holds both, sealed, so nobody has to argue about which was right.

Each new unit reports into the same record, sealed the same way. Tell us what you need measured.
